Toning Down New Hair Color!

We Were Asked:

I just lightened my hair and it looks yellowish - not REAL bad but I wanted more blonde than yellow.
Could your Matrix Essentials So Silver remedy that for me?

We Answered:

Matrix Essentials So Silver Shampoo is a violet toned shampoo that neutralizes brassy tones, enhances highlights, and lightens bleached hair. This is a product that is going to keep the yellow color of your hair vibrant. If you’re wanting your hair to look less brassy, vibrant and yellow, you will want to use something that tones down the color of your hair, not something that enhances it.

I would recommend to you a color-depositing shampoo to tame down your hair color. I would suggest L’Oreal Professional Colorist Collection Color Depositing Sunflower Shampoo and Conditioner. L’Oreal’s Sunflower Color Depositing Shampoo and Conditioner are ammonia and peroxide free. The shampoo and conditioner is pH balanced and they contain semi-permanent hair color pigments and reflective mica for high shine. It’s recommended that you use the shampoo/conditioner combination 3 times a week. The sunflower shampoo and conditioner were manufactured to help maintain the color of light blonde, highlighted and dark blonde hair. This should help neutralize the yellow tint to your hair!

Bedtime Tips!

Bedtime Tips!

It’s night time and you’ve washed your face, applied your favorite nighttime moisturizer, brushed your teeth, rinsed with listerine and slipped into your favorite pair of pj’s.

You’re almost ready for bed, but what have you forgotten about? Your hair!

Did you know your hair can benefit from a little before-bed pampering? Think about it — if you blow-dry, straight-iron, or curl your hair daily, and have your hair colored or highlighted, your hair might be in need of some attention before you call it a night.

Use these tips to keep your hair looking gorgeous:

Swap your cotton pillowcase for a satin one. Cotton pillowcases actually grip your hair and can cause annoying (and sometimes painful) tangles. Also, cotton removes oils from your scalp, which causes drying and brittleness to your hair.

If you have medium-to-long hair, tie it back, braid it, or wrap your head in a silk scarf before bed. Then if you toss and turn, you limit the amount of movement and subsequent damage, and you get to skip the detangling session in the morning.

Apply almond or jojoba oil to your hair before bed. Wrap your hair in a towel or satin scarf overnight, then shampoo and condition in the morning. This will help bring back softness and luster!

Brush or comb through your hair from back to front. Simply bend forward at the waist and let your head come forward. This technique will remove any dirt and pollutants as well as stimulate circulation, increase natural oils in your scalp, and minimize any overnight tangling.

Give it a try — keep your hair looking lucious!

Sebastian Cellophanes Help!

Sebastian Cellophanes Help!

We Were Asked:

I am considering buying one of two products, either Sebastian Colourshine Cellophanes or Sebastian Professional Cellophanes. What exactly are they? Are they hair dyes, or glosses, or what? How do you use them? I am a brunette and am trying to choose a shade. Is gleaming gold only for blondes? What about crystal? Is there mixing involved or does it just come from one bottle? Do you put it on dry or wet hair? ….Any info appreciated!

We Responded:

There’s a story behind the Sebastian Cellophanes. Sebastian Cellophanes are made with conditioning, color and shine in mind for each individual. Sebastian Cellophanes have botanical proteins that actually infuse into your hair with heat. Cellophanes seal in color and strength for your hair.

Both the former and the newer packaging Cellophanes are peroxide, alcohol and ammonia free, which is unique to the hair color industry!

Here at Stuff4Beauty we haven’t heard a lot of feedback from people who used the former packaging and switched to the new. I have been told, however, that the new Sebastian Professional Cellophanes work excellently.

I would not recommend using the Sebastian Colourshines Cellophanes as it is a discontinued item. I would hate to recommend a product that is no longer manufactured to a customer looking for a long-term solution for their hair.

I would, however recommend the new packaging Sebastian Professional Cellophanes. While it is recommended that you use a color close to your current hair color, it is not necessary. By using a shade that is close to your current hair color, you will find the shine and vibrancy of the hair color is a lot more noticeable. The Sebastian Professional Cellophanes Clear does not change your hair color at all. Instead it acts as a pure shine agent and helps make your current hair color more vibrant. There is no mixing involved, only a tube of product. Please keep in mind though that with all Cellophanes the color and shine will only last 4-6 weeks. Most hair stylists will recommend you use Cellophanes once every 3 weeks, or to your own discretion. Sebastian Cellophanes are a temporary color enhancement and glossifier.

With either the new packaging or the former packaging, you will want to use the same process. The amount that you use is up to you however I would recommend smaller amounts. You can always put more in, but you can’t take it out! You will want to use the Cellophanes on wet hair and leave it on about 20 minutes. Make sure when the 20 minutes are up, you wash all of the product completely out of your hair.

I hope this helps!
